Viagra Rationing in the UK

Reports coming from different news agencies and newspapers in the United Kingdom, are stating that Health authorities are beginning to enforce a new policy to begin rationing Viagra and other Erectile Dysfunction medications. The new guidelines for prescription on these treatments now state that men who take Viagra will see their intake of the medication cut down to a 50%.

In the UK, men diagnosed with Erectile Dysfunction are prescribed with a dosage of four pills a month, the new prescription recommendation is requesting to limit the amount of pills prescribed to just two a month. Health authorities, when questioned on the matter, have defended that this is not an official policy to be adopted by all doctors, that is merely a recommendation. However, given some consideration, analyst have stated that it wouldn’t be of much surprise if in the future this became a national policy.

Doctors in the affected areas in the UK, such as Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, are cautious to follow this new policy. While they are unsure of what will occur in the near future they still prescribe four pills for their regular patients, but are limiting to just two to the new patients. Most doctors are not agreeing with this new policy since is widely known that a healthy sex life is a key part of health and well being.

The reason for this unpopular decision, the true main goal is to economize on non-essential treatments, according to some sources. The guidance applies Sildenafil based drugs (Viagra), Vardenafil (Levitra) and Tadalafil (Cialis). Although this new policy is relatively brand new, the impact of it is still unknown. Many experts are stating that one possibility that might become handy for men unable to get their prescription would be to seek generic Viagra online, these secret is something that the authorities and big pharmaceutical companies don’t want them to know.

Skin Cancer Treatment

As far back as 2006, scientists at the John Hopkins University found that Viagra (Sildenafil Citrate) increases the activity of T cells in mice with cancer. These cells are a part of the immune system that fights tumors. A new study led by Viktor Umansky, from Heidelberg’s German Cancer Research Center put Viagra in the drinking water of mice with melanoma, the most lethal form of skin cancer. These mice wound up living twice longer than untreated subjects. Apparently, Sildenafil does this by triggering the immune system to resist cancer.

While melanoma is rather uncommon, it can be also highly dangerous, hence the importance of finding a skin cancer treatment that can help to eradicate this condition. A melanoma is a tumor that manifests itself through a change in the color or shape of an existing mole, or by the emergence of a new lump in the skin. These lesions are usually asymmetrical, with irregular borders, varied colors, a 6 mm or greater diameter; characteristics that can all change over time. A nodular melanoma, which is the most deadly form, is elevated above the surface of the skin, firm to the touch, and keeps growing.

Melanoma causes up to 75% of all deaths related to skin cancer. Treatments include surgical removal of the tumor, adjuvant treatment, chemo- and immunotherapy, and radiation therapy. However, Viagra online may be added to these treatments. If the drug proved as successful in humans as it has done in mice, it may very well be the case that people may be prescribed Sildenafil as a skin cancer treatment. Dr. Adam Lerner from the Boston University School of Medicine has confirmed the findings, saying that the studied mice have indeed shown a stronger immune system after being administered Sildenafil. Nevertheless, Umansky himself has admitted that more years of research are required before reaching definite conclusions.
