ACOUSTIC: Made By Hand (5/10)
By Frank De Blase on May. 7th, 2008
Made By Hand is an acoustically based outfit that shines beneath its music's overcast tones. Somber and direct, this new quartet of nouveau balladeers fills that coffeehouse void where frequently all you get is some disenfranchised caterwauling (i.e. bitching and moaning) that can't even compete with
the espresso machine's angry hiss. Made By Hand is essentially a full band that rocks, but doesn't threaten to knock off heads with the temptation to floor it. The mellow has motion and the somber swings. There's a glint of that folk/rock militant attitude we haven't heard since the 60's. And god knows we need it now.
